Tina Panariello

Professional Nail Artist
BIO Tina’s autobiography: Polished: Filing Away at Life’s Truths will take you through her life’s journey made of moments of frustration experienced by most of us. But what she has created out of it is something you can’t stop admiring. This self-taught nail artist widely acknowledged for her beautifully intricate floral motifs has surely never known how to limit herself, even when put against all the odds. Through all her roles…be it as an acclaimed actor, business owner, secretary, nail technician, wife, mother, educator, author or motivational speaker, she saw life-changing its course whenever she took charge of it. Her passion in art went beyond nails to find expressions in jewellery, or paintings on walls, rocks, clothes and murals. Being the 2015 Top Woman in Business, Brooklyn; Winner of 15 prestigious trophies in the world’s most reputed nail art championships, Leading expert of hand painted nails for OPI and having been featured in countless number of nail magazines speaks of a rare sort of accomplishment; but the Bensonhurst Salon Legend does not stop there. As a true master, she cares and chooses to inspire, telling the world to hang on and hold on to its deeply cherished dreams, as they deserve to be materialised.

Two words

Do it.

A Question I like to ask

What are your dreams?

A person who inspires me daily

A place I go to rewind

A walk by the sea, or just in nature.

An idea I am working on

Putting together a webinar

The day everything works

Everything usually works on Sunday :)

My message to the world

If you have a dream, work on getting it.

The gospel truth

I didn’t always want to be a Nail Salon Entrepreneur, but as it may, I always did my nails and when I owned an in-home jewellery business, I offered my nail art as a gift for giving me a jewellery party. After working for two years and traveling from house to house, getting home very early in the morning, say three or four a.m, it was time to talk about a salon. Nail Artistry by Tina was opened in late 1983 with 35 clients. I did a lot of reading and learning about nail art and the strokes to form the flowers that I paint. I have been drawing medical illustrations since I was a young girl so I always knew how to draw, but this was a challenge. Everything I learned I offered and sold to my clients and by word-of-mouth my business grew.

Get High On

What I enjoy most about my work is making people happy and feel proud of their nails as well as to communicate with them. I enjoy motivating some of them to grow. I also enjoy competing…though I have lost a couple of times, I ended up winning 13 trophies in total. I have taken the first and the second place both at the International Beauty Show in New York as well as at The World International Beauty Association, California. I enjoy painting many things, for instance, jewellery, clothing, furniture, rocks (gratuity rocks), buckets and last but not the least, murals in homes.

The One to adore

All of the other nail artists I followed are no longer in business, but there is one person whom I do admire now and that is none other than Robin Moses. I do not know if she owns a salon, but she does a lot of YouTube videos.

'What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly'. Darkness cannot tire those eyes that are ever busy finding new hope, coloring up all the dull corners and lighting up young hearts by telling them to choose their destiny as a victor, and not as a victim. Tina Panariello is the one who can tell you why you should give a damn about your dreams, even when the world does not.

Hold dear

My clients like all of my artwork, but most popular request is my half flower and of course all my Christmas artwork. When I competed at WINBA (World International Business Association) competition in California I painted on my model’s thumb a cockatoo sitting on a branch of flowers. This nail afforded me to win the first place that year. It took me two years to win this first place trophy. When I paint my clients’ nails they usually get two fingers painted on each hand with a half flower or another form of a flower. If they choose to do a polish design I paint the flowers on the side of the design.

My dream empire

My vision for my Nail Art is to teach it all over the world. I have already taught in California, Chicago and in various parts of New York. In schools, at beauty shows and privately.  There were several goals I have already reached in 2015, I was nominated and honoured as Top Woman In Business for 2015, and the video below: Entrepreneur Life is about my life in this industry that was aired on Brooklyn’s Public Broadcasting station. I am embarking on promoting my nail art, through a teaching video, art classes, art webinars, as well as being interviewed on several radio stations.

Nurturing minds

I feel strongly about the passionate young adults going after their dreams. I care for their vision and motivate them on their life’s journey. I tell them… no matter what you seek you can have it. I encourage them by telling my story and for me the mantra is “I JUST DID IT” which is on my business card too. When I could do it without guidance or even a mentor, why can’t they? When I go to the schools or colleges I bring samples of my work and my book with me, letting them see with their own eyes what I have accomplished. The feedback that I get from the schools are always positive, students asking me to come back, or they coming to my salon to learn more.

Me time.

When I am not working I am usually relaxing watching television, visiting family or friends or reading. But even on my down time, I find myself painting because it relaxes me.
