Two words

Total commitment

A Question I like to ask

Is there a short cut to success?

A person who inspires me daily

My son

A place I go to rewind

My bed ;)

An idea I am working on

Setting up in Ghana

The day everything works

I am sooooo good!

My message to the world

Eat. Pray. Love.

Rising after every fall

Yes, I have fallen a few times. I can say that it was only to strengthen my Faith Muscle. As an entrepreneur, you have to take a risk and sometimes it might have you flat on your butt. You have to pick up the pieces, dust yourself off and start all over again. Whenever I have fallen, I look at the situation and say I can’t quit no matter how I feel and believe me sometimes I do want to quit. The end result lies ahead, so I get up and start climbing.

Why nail art?

I came into the industry because I got laid off my job as a Computer Analyst at British Telecom North America. I got into nail school and I realized that it is more than just about painting nails. I faced challenges with acrylics and nail brushing which only strengthened my resolve and I committed myself to learn and excel. I said to myself that if I do this, I need to be one of the best.

Brand recognition

For many years I was M & M Nails and Wellness Center and I hired a Business Developer to take my Business to the next level and he told me I was my Brand and I needed to change my name of my Business. So I listen (what the point of hiring a professional and not take their advice). Bluffa Jo was launch after my mom passed away to start a Legacy for my family.

Things that keep you going

The beautiful people I meet, my passion for life and the will to live life to the fullest keeps me going. My mother, my siblings, my son continue to inspire me every day and in the industry – Jan Arnold, Athena, Vicki Peters, the list goes on and of course Doug Shoon. I’m always in Ah with Doug.

Maisie Dunbar stumbled upon nail art after she got laid off of her job working at British Telecom North America as a Computer Analyst. Now she is one of the most sought after beauty professionals by fashion industry leaders and celebrity elite and consistently recognized by publications and Cosmetology Schools for her attention to detail and innovative brilliance. A salon owner, makeup artist, educator, beauty manufacturer, consultant, author and yet the one thing she is most proud of is her son whom she raised on her own. She has won the admiration of thousands through her work going so far as having Zoya Cosmetics naming one of their limited edition spring line colors after her. Her vision is to help young artists start on their own journey and building the Makeup Mecca of Africa.

Always  on  top

For people who have known me all my life will tell you that this is me. My nick name is “Dainty”; my mother must have known what my future would be even at birth. I was born to do this. I stay on top by reading the top 7 trade shows magazines from cover to cover, I take business classes at trade shows and was about to hire a business coach. We all need a coach to take us to the next level. Along with working in my salon and operating it full time, I also take time out for continued education. If you want to be the best, you have to find great mentors, be committed to being the best, not depend on others for your success and surround yourself by people heading in your direction.
